A detail of the 18th century paper theatre. It is based on the works of several artists, but mainly Algieri, Berain and Bibiena
It measures 250 x 220mm and 35mm deep
Only TWO have been made.
The setting is a series of lino-block prints (in different colours) and the performers and orchestra figures (being only 45mm high) are all dry-point prints.
The prints have then been hand-painted with watercolour.
There is also an edition of 5 D.I.Y. kits of un-cut, un-painted sheets. (see below)
Piero Bonifazio Algieri (?-1764)
Stage Design for a Garden (of Bacchus ?)
From a print by Jacque Rigaud, studio of Algieri; Chateau de Chambord.

Costumes from Jean Berain (1640-1711)
and contemporaries.
Proscenium arch based on a design by Giuseppi Galli Bibiena 1696-1756.
A performance, possibly by Haydn, at Eszterhaza, showing a common layout of the orchestra, with the strings on either side of a long, double sided desk.
